I’m starting something new on Fridays–a little link love for my fellow mogul moms. I’ll hook you up with some sweet links that’ll help you with your business, your family or both.
Today’s link love goes out to Help A Reporter Out (HARO), the brainchild of social media butterfly, Peter Shankman. Basically, HARO is a FREE service that puts reporters in touch with sources who’ve signed up to receive a thrice-daily email listing of “queries” or stories reporters are working on. Respond to the queries and you just might get sourced, get quoted & get famous!
Over the past year, HARO has helped me land a spot in Working Mother, Entrepreneur, MasterCard Small Business website and Small Business Resources.
If you’re looking for a little free publicity, then link on over to Help A Reporter Out & sign up to get sourced, get quoted & get famous.

Thanks for the resource Heather, I will definitely be checking them out.
Hi Heather, Thanks for the info; I’ve had success for my client with HARO as well as with leads from Bill Stoller’s Publicity Insider. (http://www.publicityinsider.com/). With Stoller’s, there is a paid service, if you choose it, but there are always some freebies, too. Happy Spring!

Thanks Lisa–I’ll check it out!
Hi Heather, Thanks for the info; I’ve had success for my client with HARO as well. He seems to cover all areas. I also wanted to share another source that I’ve gotten leads from: Bill Stoller’s Publicity Insider. (http://www.publicityinsider.com/). With Stoller’s, there is a paid service, if you choose it, but there are always some freebies, too, if you read through to the bottom. Happy Spring!
I’ve been using HARO for a while – I’ve been quoted a few times but I love to send along requests to people I know in the appropriate fields – it’s been a great way to stay in touch with people – to keep my name in front of them – but also giving them an opportunity they may not have had otherwise. I’ve had a bunch of people sign up as well to get their own. It’s a great resource!

I agree–I try to forward queries to people I know who could be a great source. Thanks for your comment!
You are right…HARO is a must read. I was interviewed for a book on mom’s of teens and their internet use. I got a call to appear on the Mike & Juliet Show about kid’s finance issues — unfortunately the HARO did not specify that you had to be in NYC. So no MJShow but may be next HARO

That’s awesome Jill! Like most publicity opportunities, it’s hit or miss sometimes with HARO–but there are SO many queries, you’re bound to get some publicity love!
Heather
HARO helped me find Heather and Mogul Mom….GREAT email list, GREAT site, Peter’s book is amazing too!! Love it!!
I love HARO! In fact that is how I found Mogul Mom, The Mom Entrepreneur and many others. Great service! Hope everyone is following him on twitter today. All day long give away for answering trivia questions. Great stuff. Even a trip to Park City, UT!
I sing the praises of HARO all the time! From queries posted there, I interviewed quite a number of fantastic people for my career, money, and life skills book for new college graduates.
Next, I’ll be working on a book for incoming freshmen and I’m sure I’ll get great resources again through HARO.
And I love to be able to pass queries along to folks in my network as a way of helping them out and keeping in touch. Thank you, Peter Shankman!
