Jennifer,

Where have you been all my life?! Though I am just now discovering this extremely helpful post months after it was first released I find it highly informative and extremely relevant to my personal situation. I am a new mompreneur and have been subjected to the constant urging from friends and family to get onto the social media tool bus...which I did and have thus far NOT enjoyed the ride.

I realize that to everything which has a benefit, there must be a plan but honestly I am feeling so overwhelmed by the enormity of it all I've not been able to (at least thus far) come up with a plan that might actually work. And while I definitely see the value in social media networking and what it could ultimately do for my business and my relationships I feel that I've made far more mistakes than I have triumphs especially since I recognize that one of my weaknesses is in fact networking --this is something that I definitely want to change but I'm not even sure how.

The social medial outlets have been extremely intimidating to me, but through your post I now at least have an outline with which to follow that will help me to craft my own particular plan as I delve in and hopefully soon begin to reap the reward of lasting, meaningful relationships.

Thank you!

Finally found time to read this after "favorite-ing" on twitter. You've done a great job of explaining the areas to give some thought to BEFORE you go online. It's a lot harder to change your online personality later - much wiser to spend some time thinking about where you want to go, what you want to do.

Equally as important is jumping in with two feet and doing something that you believe in. Thanks for sharing your insights!

hi Jennifer, you have a very great sharing here about the correct way to make use of social media for our business. I totally agree with you and the way you participate and communicate with friends in your network.

People like to see the real us and therefore it's important to show our real identity and make friends with them. Have followed you in Twitter earlier, and hope you still remember me! :)

Yes, this post has helped me and makes social media more manageable and less intimidating. Personally, I enjoy interacting and sharing my experiences with others.

New to the social media arena, I have joined Facebook and have been reconnecting with old friends, finding current friends and engaging new friends. I also started a blog in Feb to journal my experiences in starting up with the hopes inspiring, sharing lessons learned, and interacting with a network of women and women business owners, which also happens to be my potential market for my mom and mom-to-be products. I'm also on Squidoo, and haven't quite figured out Twitter yet. My plan is to become comfortable with Facebook, Squidoo, and blogging before I delve into another tool.

As I interact in the social media community, my strategy is to share information, grow my network, build up anticipation for the launch of my business, and hopeful have an initial customer base of those who are interested in my product and who want to support a woman owned business.

Cheers
