What is your name & how many children do you have?
My name is Miriam Laundry and I have three children, ages 5, 4 and 19 months.
What’s the name of your company and the inspiration behind it?
Our company name is Alphabet Photography Inc., our inspiration is to showcase the beauty that surrounds us everyday through our photography. We photograph objects that resemble letters of the English Alphabet in their natural surroundings and then put them together to create words.
What is your current business struggle?
Our current business struggle is that we are growing at such a rapid pace that we require more and more staff to keep up with the orders coming in daily. We are also struggling at keeping a good balance with our work and family life.
What is your current business goal?
Our current business goal is to brand Alphabet Photography as the #1 Gift-Giving Idea. Alphabet Photography makes excellent gifts for all occasions, from babies to weddings to Christmas gifts.
What one quality do you think is a “must-have” for a mom entrepreneur?
A must-have quality for a mom entrepreneur is the ability to juggle. A mom entrepreneur becomes somewhat of a juggler, it feels like you always have 3 or more things to juggle, running a successful business, a successful family and trying to spend some sane time alone & grow as a person. All these balls seem to be going fast and you don’t ever want to drop any of them because they are all important.
A mom entrepreneur must also have the ability to prioritize and to balance. Mom entrepreneurs have to be able to determine what is important at that moment, some days the priority is a very important meeting with a distributor other days it could be your daughter’s ballet recital. To be able to determine what is important at that moment is essential to running a good business and a good family.
What 1 thing or person has been very instrumental in your success?
The person that has been instrumental in my success is my business partner Jennifer Blakeley. Jennifer is the one that thought of the Alphabet Photography concept and who had the vision and determination to start it. Many people think of million dollar ideas but very few do anything about it. Our company has seen such rapid growth because as soon as an idea is brought to the table it is acted upon.

Every day is a busy day but I do like to take time to visit some of my favourite websites and blogs as I drink my tea, Canadian Family, Mommy Millionaire and of course I really enjoy The Mogul Mom.

What advice would you give to a new mom entrepreneur?
The advice I would give a new mom entrepreneur is believe and go for her dreams. You can really have it all!
