5 Things I Learned About You

Last week, I invited email and RSS subscribers to take a survey to help me improve The Mogul Mom blog.  Over 100 readers completed the survey and I want to thank you for your honest, insightful, eye opening feedback. Not only did you answer each question but you took the time to provide comments that were amazingly helpful to me.

I found out some surprising things about you:

1. You are mom entrepreneurs equally divided into thirds:

• Developing or selling a product you invented
• Offering a service
• Running an online store or blog

This really surprised me–I thought most of you were “product moms”. But you know what? This realization reminded me that I’m not just a product mom either — before I invented Swaddleaze & Blankeaze, I had a copywriting business and after I invented Swaddleaze & Blankeaze, I started this blog.  So, like you, I’m a product mom, a service mom and an online mom entrepreneur.

2. You don’t read The Mogul Mom for the free stuff. Here are just some of the things that make no difference to you:

• Contests
• The H.O.D.
• Giveaways
• Free coaching

This really surprised me too. Many of you urged me to not become another blog with all giveaways and no content. (I don’t think I’m even close to that.) Still more told me they didn’t take advantage of free email coaching because they felt they’d get more from coaching they actually paid for! Look for the launch of my new paid email coaching program over the next week — if you want to grow your business fast and not waste your time and money making mistakes, this is the program for you.

3. You are all at different levels of your business. Some are just starting and very nervous. Others are quite savvy and growing by leaps and bounds. Your skill sets range greatly and many of you asked for more “beginner” and “basics” posts.  Expect more of that very soon.

4. Over 80% of you said that what you are looking for most on The Mogul Mom are how-to posts about advertising, marketing and PR. You want concrete tips you can implement quickly & easily. You want RESULTS. And I’ll give them to you.

5. You want to be closer to me. And each other. Here are a few things you asked for that I’m giving you:

• A searchable business directory (Coming soon–bear with me as I tweak it, format it & make it awesome)
• A forum (coming soon)
• More posts written about my real-life business journey

And, in a few weeks, I’ll launch an affordable yearly membership that will include a premium directory listing with image upload, a forum invitation and exclusive discounts on products and services offered & recommended on this site.  The forum will give members the chance to network beyond my blog posts and will further strengthen The Mogul Mom community.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be eliminating the stuff you don’t want, adding some stuff you do want and basically, making The Mogul Mom the best blog for any mom entrepreneur.
