What’s New At The Mogul Mom

When I woke up this morning, I looked out the window and saw sun-dappled leaves blowing in a crisp, cool breeze. I’m not Claude Monet, but I could tell from the difference in the way the sunlight looked that change is in the air.  Summer is winding down and fall is on its way.  And the seasons aren’t the only thing that’s changing…

Based on your reader survey feedback and some things going on in my own life, I’ve made or will be making some changes to The Mogul Mom that I’m pretty excited about. These changes will allow me to give you more of what you need and less of what you don’t — and frankly, they’ll make my life easier too.

Here are some of the changes:

• I’m cleaning up the site so it’s easier for you to navigate and find the information you need quickly. Click around and see some of the changes I’ve made.
• I axed The H.O.D. (The Helping Out Directory) because it just wasn’t working anymore. What started off as a place where moms could barter for products and services turned into a place for spammers to get free links.  Over the next few weeks, I’ll be adding a searchable directory that lists businesses by category. It will cost about $30 per year to list your business (mainly to cover administrative costs) and will make it super easy to find products and services to help you launch and grow your business or to make your everyday life as a mom better and easier.
• Though many of you asked me to add a forum to The Mogul Mom, after careful research, I decided against it — I simply do not have the extra time and labor that a good forum requires.  Instead, I’ve added threaded comments which I hope will add a simple interactivity to the site. If you want to reply to someone’s comment, just click the small [Reply] link under their comment.  I’ve also made it easier to contact me by putting a “Contact Me” link under my “About” tab.  In coming weeks, I’ll also add an FAQ page so I can answer the most common questions I receive, like which blogging platform I use (WordPress) and how I improved my SEO rank (Thesis).
• I’ll be blogging less — because you asked me to reduce the number of weekly posts to every other day and because I’m enrolled in Teaching Sells and creating an Interactive Learning Environment that’ll teach moms how to start their own business simply and affordably.  I’m so excited about this project — I’ve started 3 successful businesses since 2001 and have learned so much from my experiences and mistakes and this ILE is my chance to help moms avoid the mistakes I made and create the life of their dreams. I’m looking for mom entrepreneurs to share their experience of starting a business so I can create the best ILE possible — if any of you are interested in being part of my focus group, please email me.
• I’m introducing a new biweekly post called “Ask The Mogul Mom” and invite you to ask me to answer your burning business questions.  I’ll answer your questions on this blog and if it’s outside my realm of expertise, I’ll defer to my fabulous columnists.

• I changed my Twitter name to @HeatherMAllard after reading Danielle LaPorte’s post about unbranding.  I changed it because I didn’t want to be known as my blog — of course I love my blog and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished but I would rather create a name for myself as a mom entrepreneur who champions other mompreneurs and coaches them to achieve their dreams through my blog, private coaching and eventually, my ILE.
