I can’t agree more! I got a terrible virus last week that totally wiped out all my files. Luckily we had most everything backed up. Then the week before someone hacked into my blog and erased everything, luckily that was all backed up too. The thing is you just need to get into the habit of backing up everything weekly. Don’t go around thinking that a virus or hacking won’t happen to you – always better to be safe than sorry.

Yep, you’re absolutely right, Holly. Backing up is *so* important. I back up on my Clickfree and I backup my WP database daily.

i couldn’t agree more!

our computer crashed last week and although we don’t have the click-free device (what a great idea!!!) my wonderful husband “backs me up” regularly.

i lost a couple of minor things but all and all it was a relatively painless experience thanks to having backed up data!

OMG Heather, are you clairvoyant? There are a few people I know (you included) who’s computer crashed in the past couple of weeks which got me thinking–I should do back up to be safe. I’ve been really nervous about this ever since. So, I finally pushed the issue with my husband and went to the electronics store just yesterday to look into getting a flash drive (BTW-OfficeMax has a holiday special, $9.99 for a 4 GB; your thoughts on flash drive?). Probably not the best way to do back up, but now I know better–Clickfree!

Can’t wait for the next x-mas tip!

Hi Ros,
Any backup is better than none – but I bet you’ll be hardpressed to fit your files on a 4GB flash drive. The Clickfree that I have is 160GB – and there’s still a TON of room left on it even with my thousands & thousands of files.

I had about 6 flash drives and became very frustrated when I couldn’t fit everything on them – had to keep switching drives and marking them where they “left off”. The Clickfree keeps everything organized and when/if you need to transfer files back *on* to your computer (or another computer, in my case), it’s SO EASY.

Go get one, girl!! LOL. (And tell LeNesha to get one, too!)

Heather – your first tip is invaluable and hopefully is a wake up call to anyone who hasn’t backed up their files recently. I wanted to also mention about backing up the word press databases since they can be overlooked in the process.

You inspired me to write my own 12 etiquette tips although mine are more tongue-in-cheek. Looking forward to #2…

Tracy – you’re absolutely right. Holly mentioned that too – her blog was hacked last week! I do the database backup DAILY. :)

Your blog post was awesome – and your blog/site look great!!
