such a great reminder!!
i started really focusing on this a few weeks ago and it has made such a huge difference in my productivity level.
i like to get dinner going in the crockpot in the morning so i don’t have to think about it later in the day. and this, along with a salad, also gives me the next day’s lunch.
i’ve also been snacking on tamari roasted almonds throughout the day. and on sundays i make a big batch of high-protein cookies for the kids’ lunches and for me to snack on when i’m getting a sweet craving but want something healthyish.
i used to always claim that i didn’t have time to cook because i am so busy driving kids around and running a house and trying to get my business off the ground, but since i started meal-planning and making sure we have healthy snacks, i am getting so much more done in all areas of my life (and i’m a lot less crabby)!!

It’s true, Erin – if you take the time before hand, you find that eating right gives you such energy to use the free time that do have. I am sooo cranky when I don’t eat/eat right and just doing these simple things – packing lunch before, eating a quick, healthy breakfast make such a HUGE difference. My latest Ninja food trick is mixing baby spinach leaves in with any salad I make – we all get more iron without any complaints. LOL.

Well, now you’re speaking my language–”feed thyself”. I can tell you this is one area I have no problem with–there’s no compromise when it comes to eating or food for me. I must eat (fist pounding on table)! Hee, A chant for my husband. =)
For easy fixin’, we usually have a sandwich for lunch, especially on busy days. What needs improvement, however, is taking the time to actually eat my meals. I find myself inhaling my sandwich in front of the computer and before you know it, within 2-3 minutes, Voila-sandwich GONE. I don’t even think my brain processed that I ate. Hmmm, no wonder I still feel hungry 10 min. later. H-E-L-L-O! Seen Mireille Guiliano, author of “French Women Don’t Get Fat” on many shows and a couple of her tips are: 1) savor what you eat & 2) make eating a ritual-make it a special time, eat slowly & properly. Definitely healthier way of nourishing.
I feed thyself, my problem is – savoring, eating slowly & properly. I also heard it takes at least 20 minutes for your brain to process you ate, which is probably the reason I get hungry 10 minutes later.
On that note, I’m going to sip my coffee & have a slow breakfast. See you at the next one….

Ros,
I’m guilty of the same thing. Sometimes the empty yogurt container is the only proof that I actually ate – can’t even remember it because I do it so quickly.
I usually eat standing up in the kitchen and really, I should sit down at the table and eat slowly…to truly nourish myself.
See you at the next one.
