Who is The Mogul Mom?

My name is Heather Allard and I am a mother of three children, Hope, Grace and Brendan, and the president of 2 Virtues Inc, the company I founded in 2004.

Inspired by my second daughter's slumber struggles and my own sleep deprivation, I designed two innovative wearable blankets, Swaddleaze and Blankeaze, and built a successful infant sleepwear company in just three short years. Swaddleaze and Blankeaze quickly became best-selling baby products favored by bleary eyed parents everywhere. Both products won awards and received rave reviews in magazines, newspapers and blogs.

But when I began my company, it was before the "mom inventor” boom and there were no resources for mom entrepreneurs, no books about mommy millionaires and no “how to” guides for women who ran businesses and raised families simultaneously.

I learned my lessons the hard, time consuming, expensive way

Since starting my business in 2004, I've researched and learned an enormous amount of information about starting a business, inventing a product, bringing it to market and juggling a growing business AND a growing family. My “story” began circulating in The Lone Inventor, The Mom Inventors Newsletter, Family Review and The Providence Journal.

It wasn’t long before other “businessmoms” began emailing me with numerous questions, requests for referrals to reputable manufacturers, fulfillment houses, programmers, publicists and valuable resources. These women were seeking help and looking for answers from a comrade who’d made that same long, strange trip down the entrepreneurial path. They needed a mentor and after reading my success story in press interviews, they turned to me.

When I first began receiving emails from fledgling businessmoms, I answered every single one, which often began a chain of emails back and forth. I offered up referrals, resources, tips, tricks, advice and opinions on every topic under the sun. I spent countless hours on these emails and felt a great sense of reward, knowing that I had helped other moms like me by sharing my story, my knowledge and my advice.

But as my family and my business grew, answering all of these emails became unfeasible. In fact, after having my third child in 2006, running my own business became unfeasible. So, I made two big decisions that would put my family first while still allowing me to advise mogul moms in the making.

First, I sold my intellectual property (trademarks, patents and websites) to Summer Infant and second, I started The Mogul Mom for mom entrepreneurs like you.

However, by this time, there were several books, websites and blogs for mom entrepreneurs, so I decided to make The Mogul Mom different by providing answers, information and help very specifically.

Through my Coaching by Email program and my blog, I provide everything that mompreneurs need in a targeted, step-by-step, direct manner.

If you ask me about having a website designed, well, I'm going to tell you what key elements it should have (and not have) and give you the contact information for my web team so you can get started ASAP.

If you ask me how to find a manufacturer, I'm not going to send you off to Alibaba.com. Instead, I'm going to recommend Alibaba.com with step-by-step instructions on how to do a search AND I'll give you some contacts of mine in China.

If you ask me how to figure out your wholesale and retail prices, I'm going to show you the exact equation AND send you to JamesGirone.com, an amazing site for children's apparel industry information.

I guide with the “whole mogul” in mind, knowing firsthand what it means to be a woman, a mother and a business owner all at once and my mission is to always give you the answers, information, recommendations and referrals that are the most helpful, cost effective, efficient and truthful.
I am The Mogul Mom and I’m here to help YOU.
