Me? Famous? But isn’t publicity just for celebrities and big companies?
Nope, it’s not. Publicity is for everyone!
No matter who you are – an inventor, designer, blogger, author, artist, philanthropist, freelancer, service provider or coach – or what type of small business you have, you need publicity!
But don’t I need to hire an expensive publicist to get publicity for me?
No way! If you have the time, the desire and the know-how, you can DIY your publicity!
But why do I need publicity?
Because publicity creates buzz, positions you as an expert, brings traffic to your site, skyrockets subscriber sign ups, launches a new product, drives sales, increases brand awareness, establishes authority, builds your platform and so much more.
And because we believe so strongly in the power of publicity to build your brand and increase your sales, we’re sharing 6 free ways to get great publicity.
6 Free Ways To Get Great Publicity:
1. Social media
More and more, media outlets are using Twitter and Facebook to find great sources for the stories they’re working on. Is there a magazine or TV news show you’d like to be featured in? Chances are, they’re on Twitter and Facebook – and once you “follow” them, you’ll see awesome shout outs for sources like you.
WE CAN HELP: You can find out exactly how to contact them and what you need to do to get your business and your website ready in Get Famous. It’s our awesome guide to do-it-yourself publicity. It was just updated in 2016 and is ready to help you get your name in lights, FAST!

3. Guest posts

WE ACCEPT GUEST POSTS: right here.
4. Press Releases
Despite what some PR people say, the press release isn’t dead. Writing and distributing a press release can announce news, launch products, tweak your SEO and help you reach the media. Find out how to write your own press release, here. We curated a list of free press release distribution sites. Download it, here.
5. Editorial Calendars
An editorial calendar shows the major editorial features planned for forthcoming issues of a newspaper or a magazine. Editorial calendars were traditionally used by the advertising department but YOU can use them to increase your chances of being featured in a publication.
Where can you find editorial calendars? Go to the publication’s website and look for a link or tab that says “Advertising” – it’s usually waaaaay down at the bottom of the website. Click on that and you’ll probably find rate information, closing dates and a “download editorial calendar” link.
6. Product placement
Have you ever seen your favorite products being used in movies or TV shows? That’s called product placement and you can get your product placed, too! Having a great media kit can help make this happen.
WE CAN HELP:Check out this great article about how to put one together.
Now go get ’em
Publicity is a powerful way to build your brand and drive your business. And as you can see, there are many fun and free ways to get it.
